Jessica Akyea
Jessica Akyea    Legal Assistant

Jessica Akyea has been a legal assistant at the Law Offices of Jay S. Marks since March 2012. As the daughter of Ghanaian immigrants, Jessica reached adulthood with a serious interest in immigration law. Understanding the struggles of her parents and extended family to come to this land of promise, and to prosper here, ignited her passion for immigrant justice.

“Working with Jay Marks is a continuous reward for me,” says Jessica. “His zeal for justice for immigrants and his compassion for his clients is inspiring.”

Jessica graduated from Salisbury University on Maryland’s Eastern Shore and earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Latin American studies. During four months of study in Cuenca, Ecuador, she developed her fluency in Spanish and broadened her knowledge of Hispanic culture by experiencing it firsthand.

“For me, it is a privilege to help future Americans progress toward a successful future,” she says.
