Lauren Gold    Attorney

The daughter of an Austrian immigrant, Lauren Gold grew up in Ithaca, New York, and Cambridge, England. Before law school, Lauren earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Cornell and worked as a newspaper reporter in West Palm Beach, Florida. There, she was privileged to learn and write about many issues relating to immigration and migrant farm workers. “It was the first time I really thought about some of the injustices of our immigration system, and I wished I could do more to help,” she says.
After 10 years in journalism and science writing, Lauren returned to law school to focus on immigration law. As a student at the University of Maryland School of Law, she interned at the Department of Justice’s Office of Immigration Litigation and earned the Law School’s Public Service Award for her work in the Immigration Clinic. She also served as president of the Immigration Law and Policy Association.
Lauren graduated from law school in 2014 and joined the Law Offices of Jay Marks soon afterward. She was made an associate attorney after her admission to the Maryland Bar in December 2014. Lauren lives in Silver Spring with her Kuwaiti rescue dog, Juliet
